Riccall House – An introduction

Based in the heart of the village of Riccall, North Yorkshire, Riccall House is a homely family run Residential Care Home located 9 miles from York and 4 miles from Selby.

Twelve single bedrooms and three companion rooms provide long term EMI care services for 18 elderly male and female residents, some of which have dementia illnesses.

Our cheerful manager, Diane Moughan, ensures life at Riccall House is homely and friendly. Having worked there since 1988 she cares deeply about the well being of all residents and feels privileged to be looking after them.

Specialising in dementia and old age care, staff at Riccall House are committed to enabling residents to live the life they want, providing them with the support, care and encouragement they need. Families and friends are encouraged to be involved in as much of the home life as possible.

Memory boards and dementia friendly signs help residents with their orientation. Natural light and blooming gardens make them feel at home.

Two cosy television lounges and a dining room are the hub of the home. Residents are often chatting together with care staff always on hand for support. Activities for all are regularly held here including Movement to Music, aromatherapy massage, bingo and quizzes.

Bedrooms and bathrooms are well decorated with a homely feel and many have views of the courtyard or rear garden. Riccall House is a home where residents continue to enjoy life and maintain their independence.

Registered owners, Gill and Tony Conroy, work within the home and live in the grounds to the rear of Riccall House.

24 hour care ensures that residents are safe and well, and a variety of activities and services on the premises further promote their well being.

Diane the Manager is delighted to have maintained the two star rating “Good” from CSCI for over five years. The new inspection and regulation department from April 2009 is known as the “Quality Care Commission” we look forward to working with them and to keeping our high standards.
